The Government of Nepal has decided to give retirement to all the staff of the Janakpur Cigarette Factory (JCF) and also dissolve the JCF Board of Directors. Accordingly, 758 staff of the Factory would now retire. The Council of Ministers meeting today also decided to form a Committee under a Joint-secretary at the Ministry of Industry to look into any alternative way to take the Corporation ahead. The Joint- secretary has also been designated the General Manager of the JCF until another arrangement is made. Talking to reporters following the cabinet meeting, Minister for Information and Communications Madhav Prasad Poudel said the meeting decided to accept a grant of Rs 1.9 billion from the Asian Development Bank for skills development project and authorize the Finance Secretary to sign an agreement on loan and grant assistance worth 99 million US dollars from the World Bank for regional trade promotion. The cabinet also endorsed the Ordinance relating to the formation of some hospitals and decided to mint silver coins to mark the golden jubilee of Nepal Red Cross Society and National Numismatic Museum. Likewise, the Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation has been designated the focal point for SAARC and BIMSTEC. It was earlier at the National Planning Commission. Minister Poudel also said that the cabinet decided to sanction Rs. 1.6 million to the Bhanu Development Foundation to observe the second centenary celebration of pioneer Bhanu Bhakta Acharya. The cabinet decided to enforce the agreement reached with the Kirant Janabadi Workers’ Party. RSS
