The Literary and Cultural Studies Department at Carnegie-Mellon just informed me that although I would be a great candidate for their program, I could not study any cultural implications of works that are British 20th Century or later, Fantasy, or Childrens Literature because they have to be strategic in what they consider literature worth studying. And to that I say I have to be strategic on what I consider a PhD program worth joining.
