The United Nations has urged Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and other regional leaders to intervene in the war torn South Sudan. The United Nations Security Council ambassadors who visited the Kenyan capital Nairobi this week told President Kenyatta that they had found South Sudan President Salva Kiir and his former vice president Riek Machar unable to commit to a peaceful resolution to their conflict. President Kenyatta is due to join host Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and other regional leaders at an IGAD summit in Addis Ababa at the weekend to discuss how to effectively intervene to force progress in the South Sudan crisis.
