The annual CLEAN UP GREEN UP is happening today with the IGAP Department! Children in Mekoryuk, are out picking trash in and around the village. Coordinating this project is Hazel Marie Peterson, whom is our Environmental Coordinator for NVM. ALL made possible with the donations form Donlin Gold, CVRF, City of Mekoryuk, NIMA Store and NIMA Corporation! Each year, the tally of the trash picked up by the kids have gone LOWER and LOWER each year! Very good improvement! Thanks to our Volunteers from the community Galen Float, Alyssa Williams, and Carol Peterson (tribal council member). Involved as well are CVRFs Youth to Work workers, supervised by the CVRFs Mekoryuk office Intern Dallas Williams. WAY TO GO! I will say there is a very good after party for these hard workers! Keeping our village clean is each kids excitement every year! If I have left anyone else out as in donations or volunteering, please feel free to acknowledge them in a comment. Very good community input and effort to keep our home town clean.
