The technology to enable driverless vehicles is available today but is expected to be delayed for years while they figure out how to apportion blame should an accident occur. Meanwhile we have commuter trains running up escalators and derailing on curves because the drivers dozed off. Seems perverse that the there is greater emphasis on being able to point the finger in blame after an accident than on using technology to avoid the accident in the first place. Human are error-prone, distracted and often incompetent drivers. Time to move on to something better. Now.
