The ultimate pay to play... the NFL is asking artists to pay a portion of their tour earnings in order to play at the Superbowl halftime show. Bands have already been playing the halftime show for free. Its bad enough when locals pay to play through ticket sales, thats about making sure the promoter can move tickets and guarantee the bands will draw. But the Superbowl will be sold out whether theres a halftime show or not. So they expect bands to pay for the exposure. Its not about exposure. Its about talent. Superbowl halftime bands should be paid because theyre some of the biggest artists on the planet.
