The used to be (70s) clear Rajang River is going to be choked with silt over the years ....due to up river massive forest clearing for oil palm, timber extract etc, the water is now muddy and the river looks like a long winding muddy road from above..... The port is now insignificance due to the up and coming of the Tajung Manis deep sea port established at the river mouth....the town is slow in progress too and soon to be much far behind Bintulu and already, long lost to the city of Miri...poor old hometown...
