This Friday October 24th will mark 9 years since a hurricane has hit ANYWHERE along the Florida coast. The last being Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Its not just South Florida. I mean everywhere from Pensacola to Key West to Jacksonville! This length of time between hurricanes has never been observed in the historical record dating back to the 19th century. It is truly astounding! Weve been lucky! That being said, South Florida has been hit more times by storms in October than any other month. We have a disturbance developing in the Southwest Gulf of Mexico. All of the global models (the one being shown is the European) bring some type of low pressure system toward our area by weeks end. Its not time to put away the hurricane supplies just yet. Stay tuned....David
