This is my personal happily ever after story. My family moved to - TopicsExpress

This is my personal happily ever after story. My family moved to Texas in August of 2013. By May of 2014 I was having a hard time adjusting. As a mother of 6 my social life had always revolved around my family and extended family. Moving to Texas, not knowing a soul was difficult. By May I had grown depressed and hopeless. I joined a few horse groups on facebook and around the end of June a post caught my eye. That post was a discussion of a craigslist ad. The ad pictured a skinny mare tied to a tree. Reading through the Facebook post I learned that for two weeks a few ladies had been trying to buy the horse but the owner grew suspicious and feared they would contact the police and he would be charged with animal cruelty. I decided I would give it a shot. I began texting the owner and after a tense 24 hours I was on my was to pick up the horse. The guy who posted the ad would not give me an address, instead I had to call him every few minutes for further directions. There were a group of five ladies keeping tabs on my whereabouts via text. They became a little worried because I was running later than planned. Houston traffic was horrible and I was pulling a horse trailer for only the second time in my life. I managed to get to the home of the mare in a not so nice area of Houston. The man selling her had his nearly grown child riding her around the yard and offered me the opportunity to ride her. I refused and told him she was for my kids and that I didnt know how to ride. We got her loaded and I was on my way home. I contacted the lady who originally wanted her and told her to pick her up anytime. She was picked up two days later and is doing wonderful. However, this is not just her happily ever after. The mare, renamed Hope, gave me a beautiful gift at a time in my life when I most needed it. Through Hope I met Stacy Pipkin and Lisa Sherwood. I have grown to love these ladies like sisters and we talk daily. I also decided to rescue a few horses myself. Hope is living her happily ever after with Lisa and Stacy has helped so many horses as the owner of S&S Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary. My admiration of them drove me to rescue two beautiful mares myself. It is amazing how one $200 horse has changed me. As much as Hope needed a savior, she became mine.
