Today the greatest need of our country is PRAYER. It is also the greatest need of national and world leaders today. As we recognize the seriousness of these times we need to turn to God in intercessory prayer. How often in the past, events of history have been changed because of prayer. Prayer is of primary importance. A verse in 1 Timothy, chapter 2 says, I exhort, therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority. This verse tells us that prayer, with thanksgiving is to be made. We are reminded to pray for all men - everywhere. I have read that if we prayed for one country each day, we would pray for the entire world three times a year. (I havent counted to make sure that is true or not.) We are also told to pray for kings and those in authority. We live in a world governed by men. To us God has given the privilege of praying for them. There was once a schoolteacher, and her class was discussing the fact that a father may occasionally permit his boy or girl to take the wheel of the car. The teacher emphasized that the parent places his big hands over the childs hand so there will be no danger of an accident. Sometime later one of her pupils was asked if he would like to pray. The little 8 year old prayed, Dear Lord, please put Your hands over the hands of our President so he will know how to turn the wheel of our country. Our country desperately needs our intercession in these days. May we join hearts in prayer for our beloved United Sates of America!
