Tomar Coffee Morning 12th March 2014 A really fun morning – out in the sunshine with lots of chatter, laughter and shared knowledge/advice from a great gathering of people – just the way it was designed by Dot Becker when she first conceived the honeycomb of groups that make up Portugal Friends. An empty hamper sat awaiting donations as part of a prize in the Summer Event on 21st June and a request for donations in the form of animal feed plus any other gifts (the sort you would like to win yourself) for prizes would be gratefully accepted. Bring them to the coffee mornings. Also, as an interim measure, donations ‘to the pig’ will go to a fund for the Summer Event to cover initial expenses then later revert to charity support. The Fumeiro Traditional da Região Templários in Tomar have offered to host another lunch at the Fumier – the smoked sausage producer – and more than 20 names have already signed up for it. The date to be confirmed but will be at Easter time. Two previous visits have been very popular and requests for a repeat frequent. If you are interested, do please let me know. Quiz night is on 21st March with a theme of Cowboys and Indians – the more people dressed up but not ready to kill – the merrier.! Sympathy sent to Carolyn Sunflower whose hip operation was postponed at the very last minute. Hope it gets sorted espresso as the absence of her cakes sorely felt. Next meeting on Wednesday 8th April same time, same place, same friendly welcome. P.S. The collection today was 28 euros, Sylvia added the extra 2 euros to round it up. Thanks Sylv! Another meeting of the Event planners was held following the coffee get together with an increased number of willing folk and plans are coming on well. The Portuguese Association for Cultural Tourism in Tomar have offered support and advice which is greatly appreciated and eagerly accepted.
