Tragedy in Taekwondo after the sudden death of an athlete in a competition. Turkish athlete Seyithan Akbalik, died Saturday February 15, 2014 while participating in the Luxor Taekwondo Open in the Under 63 kg in Egypt Seyithan Akbalik, who in 2009 became European Junior Champion, was representing his Club from Izmir (Ulastirma Spor Kulubu), in the Luxor Open and was returning to competition after having been out over two years due to the detection of a heart problem, but he recently wanted to return to the sport. The entire world Taekwondo community is now in mourning. We extend our condolences and deepest sympathies to this your mans’ family and to the Turkish Federation and the ETU.
