U.S. Foreign Commercial Service and U.S. Department of State published a 2014 edition of Doing Business in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH): A Country Commercial Guide for U.S. Companies Among other things, 2014 BiH Commercial Guide notes: Bosnia and Herzegovina’s political environment and complex government structures create significant obstacles to economic development. Although open to foreign investment, investors continue to face a number of serious obstacles including complex legal and regulatory frameworks, non-transparent business procedures, corruption, insufficient protection of property rights, and a weak judicial system. The country’s political environment, coupled with the pressures of the global economic downturn, has stalled many key economic reforms.
