Washington DC! WOW - what a crazy audience - loony tunes — great fun! I especially want to thank the guy wearing the Vegiterreanean t-shirt. Thanks for telling me that you came to the opening in ’08! You were there as I roared up in my waitress uniform on the back of a Harley Davidson! I never publicly explained why the VT went under. At the time I was too bummed out to even talk about it. Let’s just say that It was my fault as I was always on tour and you have to be there everyday to run a restaurant. It was an amazing, ground breaking place and many people in Akron were sad when it closed. I miss it and the great staff and the beautiful views and of course the amazing food. It was one of the best vegan restaurants in the world and I know that for a fact having visited them in tons of countries. Our dreams to expand and have VT’s all around Ohio and the rest of the country were thwarted for many reasons (economy in crisis) and it was a terrible disappointment. I was the only investor (nobody was interested in investing in a vegan restaurant in Akron Ohio so I had to go it alone) and there was no one to help bail me out when I discovered that ‘we had neglected to pay the tax man. It went downhill from there but nobody would have seen that from the outside because it was such a success in every way. It even looked beautiful thanks to the gorgeous design by Joel Testa. We had high hopes but I had to keep going on tour to keep my other career alive. Everyone told me it would fail but at least I had a go…... So thank-you, the guy in the VT t-shirt for reminding me about the VT, its days of glory, and everybody else who came there and supported it. I thought about it with happy memories all the way to Charlotte. xch
