When I die, I want to be able to look back on my life and be able - TopicsExpress

When I die, I want to be able to look back on my life and be able to to say I contributed positively to the world during my limited time allowed here. I often see stories of war, famine and poverty all over the news and internet and it sickens every ounce of my being. The knowledge that every man, woman and child on this Earth could live with a roof over their heads, enough food to eat and clean water to drink seems lost behind the corporate, industrial war machine which appears to be in power today. I want the satisfaction of knowing that whenever I was able to help someone, or make their life better that I took the opportunity and asked nothing back in return. My upbringing has led me to be a relatively selfless individual who wants nothing more than to see all people happy and treated fairly. Unfortunately, the world I have awoken in seems to feed off death and destruction. The fact that hundreds of people die every day of malnutrition around the world seems to go unnoticed as people are too preoccupied with their routinely consumerist lives. I see it everywhere, from the television to my own family. No one seems to grasp the concept that the human race is really just one big super organism, and we really only need one thing to survive. That is love. Love from all peoples to all peoples. From the checkout operator who serves you at the checkout, to the 5 year old African child who just died because he has had no food or water for days. All people have their struggles. All people need one thing. To love and to be loved. Love is what will spread food, water and security to every person across the globe. Love is true power. We need to teach the children of this planet that no one is better than anyone else. We are all born equal. We all live equal. We all die equal. The only difference between me and you is our history. And what good is history if we do not learn from it. We are all one, and we need to make it clear that the only way forward is for everyone to realise this and spread their love and kindness to as many people as they can. It is infectious. Success is not owning the newest iPhone or Lamborghini, nor is it having a 7 figure job. All these things are materialistic, and no matter how much you convince yourself you want them, nothing is more rewarding in life than having legitimate loving relationships with people. The purpose of humanity is to love, and to be loved.
