While $280 million Gates has invested dictating education may seem generous, it really is a small investment that will yield huge returns for corporations, including Microsoft. Gates has a networth of $76 billion and invests $38 billion in the foundation (with additional money from Buffet and others) and then invests those billions aggressively to maximize returns (often investing in corporations that create poverty and destroy the planet and REJECTING criticism and calls to change their investment strategies- see an LA Times series done about this a few years ago). Even a modest return on those investments which don’t get taxed at all yields a couple billion dollars a year and investing $280 million in chump change from that, but these investments lead to new opportunities for Microsoft and other for profit corporations to get a return on the investments from the nonprofit foundation. Think about how much Microsoft charges schools for Office or any other product. Expect that huge amounts of tax dollars will now be spent on these new products, new operating systems, winddows devices, etc. They are not doing us any favor. Have no illusion about this. F you Gates! “The first collaboration between the two global companies will combine Pearson’s Common Core System of Courses with the groundbreaking capabilities of the Windows 8 touchscreen environment.
