William V, The Prince of Wied married on 18 July 1871, Princess Marie(1841–1910), younger daughter of Prince Frederick of the Netherlands (second son of King William I) and his wife, Princess Louise of Prussia. Born on 22 August 1845, William had succeeded his father Hermann as Prince of Wied on 5 March 1864. The couple had six children: William Frederick, Prince of Wied (1872 – 1945) married Princess Pauline of Württemberg (1877–1965), had issue. Prince Alexander of Wied (1874 – 1877) William (1876 – 1945), The Sovereign Prince of Albania. Prince Victor of Wied (1877 – 1946) married Countess Gisela of Solms-Widenfels (1891–1976), had issue. Princess Louise of Wied (1880 – 1965) Princess Elisabeth of Wied (1883 – 1938), Queen Consort of Romania as the wife of King Carol I and widely known by her literary name of Carmen Sylva. William V died on 22 October 1907.
