ZIMFORPROS EDITORIAL For how long shall we continue to live a life of fear? The fear of death is inherent in all mankind. Even brutal dictators like Mugabe also fear death, thats why they spend fortunes getting the best medical care in the world. But they also know that their people are equally afraid of death. This is why they use violence or the threat of death to scare people from doing anything about the abuse or suffering that they continue to subject those people to. Mugabe has mastered the concept of using the peoples fear of death to the extent that the majority of Zimbabweans have now accepted a life of misery rather than fight for a better life. Combined with his excellent ability to effectively use deception to his advantage Mugabe has been able to turn an entire nation into zombies who only hope in vain that their misery will end when Mugabe dies. But the peoples misery will not end with the dictators death. In fact Zimbabweans may just get from the party of old people a worse dictator than Mugabe because those who will step into his shoes are people who have been part of his system for decades. A person like Mnangagwa, for example has been under Mugabes influence for many years and knows what it is that has kept Mugabe in power for so long. Such a person, if given power, will no doubt perfect Mugabes system and become a worse dictator than his predecessor. What this means is that Zimbabweans will only get the freedom they want if they overhaul or change Mugabes entrenched system of fear and deception for one of tolerance and openness. This is the change that people like Itai Dzamara will be given credit for bringing, a few months or years from now. It is wishful thinking to expect such a change to come through a mere ballot without confronting the system head-on as Itai is doing now. We witnessed with sadness as Mugabes police seized Itai Dzamaras megaphone and arrested him and five others who had also joined him at Africa Unity Square to listen to his public address today. We fully understand why the police would behave this way. It is because brave people like Itai Dzamara pose the greatest risk to tyrants like Mugabe. They burst the bubble of fear and deception that all dictators thrive on. When this bubble is burst even diehard tyrants like Mugabe become like a naked rapist caught in the act and paraded to the public - naked. It is the fear of suffering such an embarassment that drives them to order the arrest and beating of unarmed and innocent civilians like Itai Dzamara and other brave young men and women who stand against that which the majority have been conditioned to accept through fear and deception. We were there when the police came to try and stop the people from exercising their right to express themselves at Africa Unity Square in the afternoon. Its all decided at Shake Shake House. The awareness that everyone who attended the event had consciously made the choice to do so with the full knowledge that by joining the campaign we had begun the writing of a new chapter in the history of our nation, that awareness alone leaves no doubt to this writer that Zimbabwe is not made up of cowards only. We still have people who refuse to see their future and that of their children being stolen by a network of cruel dictatorship masquerading as a peoples government. We still have people who are willing to do whatever it takes to refuse dictators like Mugabe room to continue taking Zimbabwe as their private possession, and all because at some point they went to war to fight another oppressive regime. We ZImforpros soldier among those brave Zimbabweans who have refused to let the spider called Mugabe to carry on weaving the web of tyranny around the people of Zimbabwe. You too can be part of this noble cause. Join Itai Dzamara at Africa Unity Square tomorrow. Aluta!! Zimforpros
