amaraw | Endangered Animals in the Philippines The tamaraw (Bubalus mindorensis) also known as Mindoro dwarf buffalo is a small mammal that belongs to the family of Bovidae. These animals are native to the Mindoro Island. They are found at a level of 2,000 meters above sea level. Tamaraw is critically endangered species as they were subject to extreme hunting, habitat loss, and logging. The population of these species are now limited to few grassy plains.
