can we justify our action of not loving our neighbors? I have tried this millions of times in my life and the answer is freedom will never come from trying to justify your actions. It wont work. Freedom comes from listening to what the Spirit is telling you. matthew 5:43-48 New International Version (NIV) Love for Enemies 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? When we are trying to justify our actions of not loving everyone, we are still blinded to the truth because we are not willing to turn listen and practice what we hear. 2 Corinthians 3:17 New International Version (NIV) 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Galatians 5:22-25 New International Version (NIV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. AGAINST SUCH THINGS THESE IS NO LAW. THAT MEANS FREEDOM. THE LAW KEEPS US A PRISONER IN OUR OWN MIND. Romans 4:13-15 New International Version (NIV) 13 It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith. 14 For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless, 15 because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression. THE SPIRIT TEACHES WITH LOVE THE LAW TEACHES WITH WRATH. Romans 2:4 New International Version (NIV) 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? 2 Corinthians 3:1-6 New International Version (NIV) 3 Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you or from you? 2 You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. 3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 4 Such confidence we have through Christ before God. 5 Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. 6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. LETTER(LAW) KILLS(BONDAGE) SPIRIT(LOVE) GIVES LIFE (FREEDOM)
