on 26th March 2014, Delhi BJP’s election committee chairman VK Malhotra at a press conference described Jamia Nagar and Batla house as “safe houses for terrorists” and “center for terrorists” . These remarks from BJP Leader have been published in many dailies and other Medias. The students from JamiaNagar were let off by Police as they were taken for interrogation not arrested, Infact one of these students wasn’t even required for interrogation. He went to police station on his own as the other student requested him to come. Still Mr.VK Malhotra chose to brand him and his supporters as Terrorists. He also said “we want votes of Muslims, but not of terrorists”. This is a serious poll code violation as it targets Minority and also it asks votes on basis of religion. These kinds of provocative and communally divisive statements from such senior leader are a calculated attempt to create communally charged up environment and create division and hatred among communities. Campus Front of India condemns the divisive and insensitive Remarks made by BJP Leader VK Malhotra about the Jamia Nagar and Batla House. Jamia Nagar is a educational hub and a nursery of intellectuals, many of whom are serving this nation better than BJP’s pseudo-nationalist goons. It’s clear that BJP’s official post-holders in Delhi are lacking knowledge about Jamia Nagar exactly like its Prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s knowledge of the history of our nation. We want to remind that Jamia Millia students led the fight of independence from the front, in which the SanghParivar had no participation. We feel that this inferiority complex is what compels BJP to cry foul on Jamia Millia Islamia (in guise of Jamia Nagar) and Aligarh Muslim University. In this regard Campus Front of India organized a Protest infront Of Nirvachan Sadan Ashoka Road, which on insistence from authorities was relocated to Jantar Mantar and Pressed for the arrest of VK Malhotra. Because it is necessary that Elections must be conducted in a Free, Fair manner and a neutral environment. But VK Malhotra has tried to poison this environment. So we demand that he be arrested immediately and prohibited from speaking in any election meeting or conference failing which we will intensify our protest. Campus Front will never tolerate any such mischief and remarks like these will be opposed within the democratic framework. Many students from all over Delhi attended the protest.
