How important is it to train your athlete from the “inside”? - TopicsExpress

How important is it to train your athlete from the “inside”? Traditional training philosophies focus on the athlete from the outside. How does the athlete look? What is their Body Composition? Are they big enough and strong in their overall muscle size and definition based on their sport needs? When training the primary fitness characteristics (Strength, Body Composition, Cardiovascular Conditioning and Flexibility) the focus is on building a bigger and stronger athlete who is leaner with a high level of aerobic fitness. All of these outcomes are accomplished from foundational strength combined with aerobic exercise that burns fat and calories. Integrated Strength training requires Trainers to look beyond the traditional strength and cardiovascular training philosophies. Exercises that demand movement with resistance focus on results before repetitions, building stability and strength through core stabilization and sequential movement in order to maximize the athlete’s biomechanical potential for strength and power. Integrated Strength starts from the inside, developing and nurturing neuromuscular coordination, balance and stability in order to build strength and athleticism that carries over from the training environment to the competitive landscape.
