MARU-KUMAWAT Kumawat Kumawat is community of the people basically from Rajasthan and living mainly in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, karnataka,MP, Delhi and other part of India.They are simple, spiritual and karma oriented people. Other Name for Kumawat (Synonyms) :---- Kshtriya Kumawat, rajaputra, kheted, silawat, beldar are some other name of this community. HOW KUMAWAT is Devided into Different Sub GROUPS?... :------- mainly kumawats are devided into 3 main sub categories 1) MARU-KUMAWATS 2) Purviya-kumawats 3) Boda or boya-kumawats Maru-Kumawats are Pure-Vegiterians and ladies of this group wears nose ring (Nathni), and other two grops are mixed (veg and Non-veg) and dont wear nathni. this is the main difference in these three groups. these sub groups have been devided by Swami.Garwaji bawasi somewhere between 1500 to 1550 (exact dates no one knows... i have searched so many history books writen by so many authors). Marrieges are NOT DONE between these Sub groups and same Gothras... that means Maru should marry in maru, Purviya should Marry in Purviya and boda should marry in boda... Profession :---- The main profession of these people is agrculture, farming , carpenter, building construction etc but with changing time people are progressing and lot of student from samaj become successful in profession like doctor,engineer and other higher job. Meaning of word Kumawat :----- Word Kumawat is build up from three word Ku, ma, Wat. ku -earth (dharati), ma -mother (mata), Wat -defender (rakshak). hence kumawat means defender of earth(dharati ka rakshak) or kshatriya. then how MARU came? :--------- when garbaji desided to devide the kumawats for so many resons, one fine day was selected to keep the name of the samaj, then he started his journey from his cave then first shagun came infront of him was an girl carrying an earthen pot with full of water..!! then he told to his fallowers that its an good sign i take first letter from matka (pot) and first letter from the name of the girl carrying the pot...!!!! thats Rukmini so it become an maru... first only 14 gothras fallowed him latter so many gotras joined him to become an total 350 total gothras in MARU_KUMAWAT... History and origin :----- According to findings from some ancient sources kumawat is originated from sisodiya vansh of maharana kumbha. Birth anniverary of Pujya Garwa Ji on 14th of Magh sudi in Feb Month . Guru Garwa ji the originator of Kumawat Samaj from Jaiselmer . He converted rajputs to Kumawats by starting nata partha ( rewedding of widowed ladies ) . He made various gotras , wedding rasams , dress code & assigned history writers called Ravs . Guru Garwa Ji`s samadhi is situated in Ludrava , 12 km away from Jaislmer . An holy temple is also built there.... The great Holy man named Param Pujya Guru Garava Ji who formed maru-Kumawat samaj.
