Max Blumenthal... the Israeli government/ its military intelligence apparatus after the 2nd Intifada... began implementing what it calls hafrada which means separation... very similar to the Afrikans phrase apartheid which means separateness... but applied much differently... I think in a much more sophisticated manner... the clearest manifestation of this is the separation wall... which is 600 kilometers long... cuts deep into the West Bank... usurping over 180,000 Dunhams of Palestinian farmland... this was designed not for security reasons but for demographic reasons... in the words that Benjamin Netanyahu... to prevent demographic spillover... Benjamin Netanyahu fears... this is on advice that he has received from state planners/ demographers... that if Israel controls territory where over 30% of the population is non-Jewish... it will lose its Jewish character... become a bi-national state... currently Israel actually controls a territory in which the majority of people... according to the Central Bureau of Statistics of Israel are not Jewish... they are Palestinian... Israel has to find a way of either relieving themselves of this population... through some kind of two-state solution... or they officially move into the open with the system of apartheid... increasingly young Israelis/ politicians in the party of Netanyahu... the Likud party which is dominant... there really is no clear alternative to Likud right now... according to the latest polling... have no interest in establishing any form of Palestinian state... even a Bantu stand state... a half Palestinian state... they clearly want to accept the consequences of open apartheid... if that is what it means to hold onto the West Bank... keep Gaza under siege forever...
