About the Australian Turf Club The Australian Turf Club, ‘The heart of Sydney racing’, is a progressive race club that manages four of Australia’s premier racing and entertainment venues, Royal Randwick, Rosehill Gardens, Canterbury Park and Warwick Farm with 200 permanent staff and 1600 casual staff. About the role Based at Royal Randwick Racecourse, and forming part of the HR team, this part-time Payroll Officer will work 3 days a week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays and will work alongside the Senior Payroll Officer (payroll team of 2) assisting staff with payroll matters, assisting with mass recruitment drives, and will prepare process and reconcile the payroll runs to ensure accurate and timely monthly and fortnightly payroll payments. The payroll team runs a monthly payroll for permanent salaried staff, and has 5 fortnightly payroll runs for casual staff. We currently have 6 enterprise agreements and some casual staff are covered by modern awards. The casual staff are rostered through the Etivity rostering system and all staff are paid through the Empower payroll system. This role deals with a diverse range of staff from casual events hospitality staff, tracks staff, trades staff, to senior executives so you must have excellent communication and relationship building skills. ATC welcomes applications from individuals who meet the following criteria: •Previous experience in end to end payroll in a high volume environment; •Ability to interpret conditions of employment provided for in various pieces of legislation, awards contracts and enterprise agreements; •A good understanding of the principles and applications of computerised payroll systems; •Effective communication skills to exchange information with other staff and external clients; •Experience in preparing payroll correspondence and reports; •Proven working experience in complex excel spreadsheets and calculations; •Ability to work independently and as part of a team. •Experience in running payrolls with a rostering system for a casual workforce will be highly regarded. This role will involve some Saturday work at ATC racecourses.
