Saturday 03, August 2013 TOPIC: Silence Them! TEXT: TITUS 1:10-16 KEY VERSE: “For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped…” (Titus 1:10,11). As it was in the days of Paul and Titus, there were also countless “unruly and vain talkers” in the time of the Christian inventor, Louis Braille, when he set about inventing the system that has made it possible for the blind to read from raised dots on paper. Despite the vociferous submissions of critics, Braille succeeded in silencing the opposition by developing the system in 1824. Another ardent Christian, Samuel Morse relying on nothing but the power of God, shut the mouth of naysayers (unruly and vain talkers) when he invented the telegraph and sent the first transatlantic cable which read: “What God has wrought!” Apostle Paul warns that when we meet a brick- wall of doctrinal and secular opposition, we must rebuke those who seek to thwart our convictions with the sound doctrine of the Bible, instead of keeping silence. We must be bold to declare that Jesus is “the Way, the Truth and the Life” and that “no man cometh to the Father but by him” (John 14:6). We need to doggedly teach the truth, no matter the philosophy and doctrine of new-found developments that attempt to contradict it. Our lifestyle must also reflect this sacred exposition of God’s work of salvation. It is impossible not to have those who wage war on pure Bible teaching. But God will give us victory if we continually fight the good fight of faith and counter falsehood with the undiluted gospel. Do not forget to wield the sharp two- edged Sword - “It is written” - to deal with error the way Christ did (Matthew 4:1-11). It will work for us also in Jesus’ Name! THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The power of the Written Word is enough to silence every enemy of the Gospel.
