Trinkler Pushes Hard to the Finish, Looks Ahead to Kansas Altamonte Springs, FL/August 12, 2013 – The #197 Cruise America/Thor Motorcoach/US LED Honda Civic SI of RSR Motorsports certainly saw its share of adventure around the famous 4-mile Road America circuit in the latest Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race this past weekend. It was clear from the beginning of the race weekend that Owen Trinkler, teammate Sarah Cattaneo, and the entire RSR stable had the potential speed, even finding all three cars within the top-7 of one of the practice sessions. The race itself would prove to be an absolutely eventful one though, with the track throwing everything it could their way. Though the #197 started in 24th position for the race, Owen would see to it that the versatile Honda would move its way up the order once it came his turn to take the reins. Trinkler would get in the car early on, and ended up being able to work both strategy and traffic to move to the front of the very competitive grid. It didn’t take long to find Trinkler running as high as P2 on a restart late in the race. Shortly after that restart, Trinklers’ Civic car lost power and he began to move down the order, though he would fight hard to stay in the Top-10 until the car couldn’t push any longer. Trinkler did everything he possibly could until the final laps, including a heroic effort to preserve a solid team finish. While leading late in the race, Owen’s teammate ran out of gas, but Trinkler came to the rescue with his crippled machine, and would cross the line to take the checkered flag by pushing his team mate to the finish! “It was certainly a wild ride with plenty of hurdles.” Said Owen “The great thing about this team is that we never stop fighting, and we work together to make sure we are in a position to succeed. While this wasn’t necessarily the result we would have liked for each car overall, we are pleased with what we were able to pull out of a really tough situation. It will certainly serve as a reminder to us that no matter what, we’ll keep pushing and moving forward. With such a short turn-around to the next race in Kansas it’s going to be the teams that can be resilient and survive adversity that will be the ones standing when all the dust settles at the end. Road America just shows that RSR has what it takes to survive, and hopefully Kansas will see us take a top result. The crew deserves it!” The SFP Grand Prix at Kansas Speedway certainly does come at a crucial time, both in regards to a fast and difficult turn around, but also in where it sits on the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge schedule with only three events left. The upcoming race will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 3:00 PM ET, and will be broadcast on August 25th at 3:00PM ET on FOX Sports 1. Also don’t forget that the broadcast of the Road America round will take place on August 17th at 3:00 PM ET on FOX Sports 2! Owen sits currently at 7th in the Street Tuner class Drivers’ standings, while RSR Motorsports also sits at 7th in the Teams’ Championship standings.
