-Volvo XC60, T6 3.0cc- Want to Sell, instead of renting it up... RM200k or 1.5kg of pamp Terus boleh tukar nama... #GM_Auto_Transportation A car that stops the traffic, and itself The gorgeous Volvo XC60 is a real traffic stopper, but the biggest single new feature in the XC60 is City Safety a revolutionary system that will stop the car by itself to help the driver avoid or reduce the effects of the type of low-speed impacts that are common in city traffic and traffic tailbacks. Volvo is the first manufacturer in the world to offer this type of feature as standard. City Safety advertises that the new XC60 is the safest car Volvo has ever produced. The car is packed with Volvos accumulated safety know-how and technology, both when it comes to preventing accidents and protecting all the occupants in a collision. Surveys indicate that 75% of all reported collisions take place at speeds of up to 30 km/h. In 50% of all rear end collisions the driver has not braked at all before the collision, mainly due to distraction. In these cases, City Safety could make a crucial difference. City Safety brakes the car automatically if the driver is about to drive into the vehicle in front. A collision can either thus be entirely avoided or if this is not possible, damage to cars and personal injuries can be reduced. City Safety is active at speeds of up to 30 km/h. If the vehicle in front brakes suddenly and City Safety determines that a collision is likely, the brakes are pre-charged. If the driver remains inactive, the car applies the brakes automatically. If the relative speed difference between the two vehicles is less than 15 km/h then City Safety may help the driver entirely avoid the collision. Between 15 and 30 km/h the focus is on reducing speed as much as possible prior to the impact. City Safety keeps an eye on traffic in front with the help of a laser sensor that is integrated into the top of the windscreen at the height of the rear-view mirror. It can detect vehicles and other objects up to 10 m in front of the cars front bumper. Target group with high demands on technology The Volvo XC60 project has its sights set on a target group that imposes high demands on design, brand integrity and high-tech content in its choice of lifestyle products. One might say that its all about consumers who have grown up with the microchip as a natural supplement to their breakfast cereal. Theyre used to the immensely fast pace of development in the world of electronics and every succeeding birthday has brought with it increased capacity in ever-shrinking gift packages. When it comes to the choice of car, these consumers adopt the same view as they do for other lifecycle products, that is to say all the properties should preferably be integrated into one single attractive and intelligent package. It can be said that this could be the C30 owners next car. It is as sporty and exciting, but way more capable an all-round car for the person who lives single in the city and for the young family taking the kids for a weekend of fun and adventure. With the XC60 Volvo is aiming primarily at lifestyle rather than age and the company is broadening its model range to attract even more customers with an active urban lifestyle. Like the Volvo C30, the XC60 plays an important role in Volvos model expansion strategy. The new Volvo XC60, built at the Volvo Cars factory in Ghent, Belgium Under the bonnet The XC60 is only the third Volvo (after V70 and S80) to be fitted with the companys 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine and its the only petrol model available Its a refined, responsive engine and pleasing to the ear thanks to a growly note that features an overlay of turbo whistle under acceleration. Theres some mild turbo lag when pushing harder on the accelerator while on the move but the XC60 otherwise steps off the mark quickly (0-100kmh is a claimed 7.5 seconds) with plenty of mid-range grunt. The standard six-speed auto is a fine companion in normal driving, though its ability to pick gears intuitively regresses as the corners start to tighten. The engines task of shifting a surprisingly heavy vehicle - the T6 weighs nearly two tonnes, How it drives Dynamics have never been a Volvo forte but the XC60 behaves above expectations. It generates plenty of cornering grip and the Haldex four-wheel-drive system aids traction. Comfort and practicality Welcome to the best Volvo interior yet. The XC60s cabin is clever and spacious but it also exudes Scandinavian design flair that makes the rival X3s interior look dull. Soft-touch plastics on the upper dash and door trim contribute to a thoughtfully crafted interior. The floating centre console continues, though for the first time its angled towards the driver. It contributes to excellent ergonomics that also include the familiar passenger-shaped ventilation controls, supportive front seats and multi-adjustable driving position. Storage options are large and plentiful. Clever cabin touches include simple yet brilliant front cupholders that will grip various-sized bottles and coffee cups, two-stage child-booster rear seats that cater for different sizes and a centre rear headrest that blends into the rear seatback to aid rear vision but pops up at the press of a button. One blemish is the audio display that protrudes from atop the dash rather than being incorporated in the central screen. ________________________________________ Safety Volvo claims the XC60 is Australias safest car and deserves more than the maximum five stars it was awarded by independent crash-testing organisation Euro NCAP. At the centre of its bold claim is new low-speed crash-avoidance technology. The new City Safety system is standard on all XC60s and is designed to help Volvo drivers avoid the rear-ender. City Safety uses a laser sensor in the top of the windscreen to detect if the car is in danger of running into the back of a stationary or slow-moving vehicle ahead. The technology was effective during Volvos media launch. The XC60 applied its brakes automatically whenever it detected a range of obstacles, bringing the vehicle to a standstill from speeds of up to 25km/h. NRMA Insurance has reacted to the technology by offering discounts on premiums. A rollover prevention system, stability control and six airbags are also standard. Verdict The XC60 is a Volvo you can appreciate for more than its crash-avoidance technology. The flowing exterior curves and thoughtfully crafted interior should appeal to buyers who want sensible motoring with style. CONNIE
