Are you ready for winter? If not you better get ready and soon. - TopicsExpress

Are you ready for winter? If not you better get ready and soon. I started seeing some information pointing to a change last Friday. As I write this from home early Sunday, there now isnt any doubt we are going to see significantly colder temperatures, very strong gorge winds and a possibility of frozen precipitation for some. Starting Monday cold air begins to pour into Eastern Washington and the Columbia Basin. The Cascades will act like a dam and keep the cold air away from the Portland Metro area. You will notice winds near the gorge picking up. High temperatures will be in the lower 50s. 24 hours later East winds are blowing in Troutdale, and cold air is being pulled down the gorge. High temperatures are in the 40s. Overnight lows plunge into the upper 20s to low 30s. Skies are fair and dry. Advance the clock ahead another day and winds are really ripping. The area from Troutdale to Cascade Locks see winds 45 to 55mph. Corbett and Crown Point are looking at gusts above 75mph. Higher gusts wouldnt surprise me. Skies are still fair and dry. Colder air has now spread the length of the Willamette Valley. Things really get interesting and forecasters start tearing there hair out Wednesday evening. An area of low pressure the remains of Typhoon Nuri will head towards the Oregon Coast. Moisture from the low will set up the chance for low land snow or freezing rain. Right now It looks better than 50/50 that parts of Portland and areas east of I-205 will get some kind of winter precipitation. Finally in case youre wondering, the earliest snowfall ever at PDX was November 11th 1955. Something tells me this is going to be a very long week...
