Day 2 in Guangzhou in southern China. After a crazy rainstorm last - TopicsExpress

Day 2 in Guangzhou in southern China. After a crazy rainstorm last night we woke up and found that Sammy and Nadine had arrived in the night but their bags are lost! Slept pretty well despite the time diff, and feeling pretty adjusted already. We all headed down into our little neighborhood for breakfast and after wandering through a huge produce market we settled on a little street cafe for breakfast. We didnt have a translator, so we just pointed at peoples dishes and used fingers to say how many. Best meal so far! We had wonton soup, more long noodle with egg and bean curd and pork, and some stirfried noodles. Served with tea. The whole meal for the five of us cost $4. Still figuring out the money, but its 6 chinese yuan to the dollar. And they seem to have bills for coins as well... Dunno about that yet! But everything is wayyyyy cheap! 22oz beers are $0.50! Then we wandered off into the neighborhood and it started rainin again so we went into a little street cafe where this young guy was super enthusiastic to host us. We made him understand that we just wanted a drink and he sent us up into a nice room upstairs and proceeded to make us each a fancy cocktail, one at a time and he would wait while we tasted each one before going down to make the next one. They all tasted like Sprite :) we showed him that we were playing down the road tonight and he got very excited and he took his picture with us a few times. Just came back to the pad for a few beers and some downtime before our workshop at the conservatory in an hour. Pretty cool so far! Thumbs up! The gang is rested and enthusiastic and were feeling ready for any and all adventure! More tonight!
