Ever do an online search for something, and then soon after start - TopicsExpress

Ever do an online search for something, and then soon after start seeing ads in Facebook and Google for the thing you recently searched? Its because, in a nutshell, they monitor what you do. Not usually in an Orwellian sort of way, but the potential is also there.Targeted advertising through data mining is a lucratively effective scheme- and perfectly legal. But there are things you can do about it. You can opt out of each meta-data tracker and data miner individually, after searching for them all individually. Or, you can use the page these kids made that conveniently has them all compiled for ease of access. If everyone opted out of them, it wouldnt be economically viable for them to continue. Unfortunately I dont ever see that happening, but you and I can help ourselves. And you can help your friends as well- share this information with those you know. They may just thank you for it.
