GOOD NEWS FOR GRANDVIEW KIDS! As anticipated, on August 27 Ontario Minister of Children and Youth Services, Tracy MacCharles (MPP Pickering-Scarborough East), announced that the province will be investing an additional $5 million annually in children’s treatment centres (CTCs) to expand access to physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech-language therapy for up to an additional 2,000 children annually across Ontario. The province of Ontario is also investing an additional $1.25 million in one-time funding to help further reduce wait lists for assessments, which will be divided equally across all CTCs. This equates to $62,500 per CTC on a one-time basis. The governments investment in children and youth with special needs will translate to approximately $345,000 added to the operating budget for Grandview Childrens Centre to serve families in Durham Region.
