I have finally come across written information regarding some of the land owned by my grandfathers Cousin. See photo I have posted before. My grandfather had told me as a little boy that the old houses (there once were two of them; one now) was a stagecoach stop owned by the East family. My grandfather further told me that his cousin who later inherited the property (who is now dead) had plowed under the graves of the East family. I have been on a quest for verification of the here-say from my grandfather. To start I did a land patent search and found that Isaac East owned the original land patents that my family later purchased. I found direct confirmation below of the location of where they lived and also a discussion of the Jesse James story I was told as a child. Isaac is buried down the road in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, so that leaves me with the quest I am on to try to figure out the names of those laid to rest in the cemetery near my house that can no longer be found. My thoughts are that the people buried are some of his 10 children. Do any of you have an idea of how to find out if there is any death records that would indicate if they were buried in a family cemetery? I would just like to know the names of those plowed under by the mean cousin of my grandfather .
