JOHANNESBURG – Former Generations actress Sophie Ndaba has refuted claims that the 16 fired cast members suffer from delusions of grandeur. The actress, who is popularly known as Queen Moroka, says she has been part of the show for 20 years and deserves a piece of the pie. The actors spoke out for the first time today since they were laid off following a week- long strike. Together with their lawyer, they held a briefing at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg to discuss their salaries and working conditions. Ndaba said she loves the show but enough is enough. “We’ve all been offered other roles on other shows but I mean people know me as Queen and I’m here to stay. So I decided I would fight for the show.” The fired cast also called on the South African Broadcasting Corporation to stop condemning black talent to a life of poverty and spoke out against what they called apartheid working conditions. The cast members said they were angry with the show’s management for disclosing their salaries to the media.
