LOS ANGELES, CA — A Lancaster homeless couple has been awarded $4 million by a federal judge in Los Angeles after LA Sheriff’s Deputies performed a warrantless raid on their wooden shack which left Angel Mendez with an amputated leg. “I didn’t know what was going on, I didn’t know what was going to happen, I didn’t know if any of us were going to live,” Jennifer Mendez recalled. “They just continued to fire,” Angel said. Mendez was struck 10 times out of the 15 rounds fired by police, which caused him to lose one of his legs. Jennifer, who was pregnant at the time, was hit once and feared she would lose her baby.
