Meet Our Therapist! This week we are introducing Bryant N. Bryant is one of our level 3+ therapists who specializes in trigger point work and neuromuscular therapy. 1) Why massage therapy? Previously, a friend/co-worker of mine who had gone through massage school began talking to me about what he learned about the body. He spoke about how massage therapists could change the body in certain ways and improve a body’s bad habits which had been developed over years of living — all of which intrigued me. I decided to buy some books about it, and even started studying anatomy on my own time outside of work. After a short while of this, I decided to start massage school, and I quickly discovered that I had a passion and natural talent for it. 2) So, you are considered “legally blind”. Do you feel your decreased eyesight has had a hand in your choice of career path? Yes, it seems logical that my blindness has helped my massage therapy. Think of it like a muscle: when you don’t use a muscle continually, it gets really weak, and it forces your other muscles to become stronger than if you fully used the original muscle. The same goes for senses, and since I do not rely on my eyesight for much, my other senses (especially scent and hearing) have become the stronger for it. 3) What is your favorite technique for relieving low back pain? Psoas work is my favorite for relieving low back pain since this muscle is not usually worked or stretched correctly, and it makes a huge difference when done correctly. 4) Here is a more fun question: what is your favorite food? All of it. But, if I have to get specific, fresh fish grilled and straight from the ocean is my favorite! 5) What is your favorite way to relax? Exercise! When I feel really stressed, I love going to the gym to “destroy” all of the stuff going on in my life so that my body and mind can then “rebuild” itself and start fresh. 6) Last question, what is one way you think Elements stands out from all the other massage studios in the area? Elements makes it a point to schedule enough time for each therapist to really create a relationship with their clients before and/or after their sessions. Clients here are not just a “number”, they are people, and they are worth our full attention, care, and time.
