Music is amazing because every song can take you back to a specific moment in time. Theres an emotion or a feeling associated with every note. I can still remember the first time I heard certain songs or what radio station I heard them on, even the DJ who played them. I came across this video on YouTube today and so many of the songs Kid Capri played (over 200 in 20 minutes BTW) reminded me of when I was 14 years old. I was lugging crates of records to a 9 watt college radio station in Easton, PA on a Sunday night. I had no idea what the hell I was doing, but I had passion and the desire to learn. I met lifelong friends and quickly decided this was what I wanted to do for rest of my life. I still dont have all the answers and some people will tell you I still dont know what the hell Im doing. I admittedly still have a lot to learn when it comes perfecting my craft, but one thing I do know is that a lot of these songs had a profound impact on me. What a weird kid my parents must have thought I was... Thanks to all who have supported me along the way, both in this new chapter of my life programming two radio stations here in San Antonio, and while I was building In The Mix With Grooves from one station in Lima, OH to what it is now. Im fortunate to have all of you as friends and colleagues. The best advice I ever received was do what you love for a living and youll never work a day in your life.
