Power tip: it may seem obvious, but so many times fighters land power shots with both the wrong part of the fist and without clinching a tight fist. In order to get the most out of your punch, you need to: 1. Clinch a super tight fist just before impact. This creates a brick. Failure to clinch your fist tightly will result in give in your punch and not have the full effect of power. 2. Land with the first two knuckles of your clinched fist. This is the most powerful spot on your fist. Landing with your fingers or pinky knuckles is only slapping. 3. Use proper technique in throwing your punch. Use your entire body to throw power shots, not just your arms or shoulders. If you notice the second picture from the Gatti/Ward fights, Gatti is not making a fist when landing his right on Ward. Had he clinched his fist before impact, it wouldve been a more effective (and possibly KO) punch.
