Public school teachers, this is an excellent primer on the states school funding formula and a great overview of the philosophical and technical differences in school funding proposals. One significant problem with the two main proposals not mentioned (or really being discussed by anyone) is the impact raising minimum pay for new teachers will have on most district salary schedules. Raising the pay of those who are already employed (but earning less than new minimum pay levels) up to or above the new minimum pay level will cost districts substantial amounts of money and will cut into the funding allocated for pay increases for others.
