Ruth Elizabeth Parry, 89, of Naples FL, celebrated wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on December 12, 2014 with family at her side. Formerly of Syracuse and Camillus, Ruth grew up in Scranton, PA and graduated from Scranton HS where she excelled in the classroom and loved competitive swimming while on the High School swim team. During WWII, she was employed at the Western Union Telegraph in Philadelphia working the communication coding machines for the military where she waited patiently for her fiancé, the late Edward ‘Ted’ Parry to return from WWII in Europe. They married and moved to Syracuse around 1946 where she and Ted raised 6 children in the Syracuse west side close to St. Anthony’s of Padua. After moving to Camillus in 1968, Ruth was a communicant of Holy Family Church in Fairmount, and worked several posts at BOCES before retiring in 1981 as secretary to the manager of purchasing. Ruth moved to Florida in 1991. In Florida, Ruth was a communicant of St. John Evangelist in Naples and was active with cooking, baking, hosting card games with friends and family and passionately accomplished in completing all types of crossword puzzles. She loved to entertain and see her children and grandchildren visit and play at the nearby Naples’ beaches. She was a great story teller – often recollecting the trials and tribulations of raising 5 mischievous boys and a daughter almost single-handedly while Ted was on business travel almost weekly on the US Post Office trains. Ruth will always be remembered for her love of family, devout faith, help of others in need, sense of humor, wit, and easy going conversation with family or friends with sweets or ice cream or cookies or Danishes available with her selection of teas. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Edward (Ted) in 1982 and a son Douglas, in 2014. Ruth is survived by daughter Janet Del Mastro (Frank) of Pembroke Pines FL. Sons; Tom (Diana) of Youngstown OH, Nelson (Sueji) of Dallas TX, Tim (Yvonne) of Naples FL, and Robert of Camillus NY. 11 grandchildren; Tomas, Reynaldo, Alessandra, Ryan, Ian, Erika, Turner, Brett, Emma, James and Ty Rosemellia. 1 great-grandchild; Aracelys.
