Scott: Just a quick overview of the next few days to keep you all - TopicsExpress

Scott: Just a quick overview of the next few days to keep you all up to speed. Tomorrow, myself, Amanda, and Amber will be heading back to NYC once again. Weve been told that the Ronald McDonald House is likely to be booked full, and that we will probably be put in a hotel. This has its upside and downside for us. Upside is a more comfy bed and most likely a shower with some actual pressure. Downside is we lose that sense of home and family that comes with RMH, no free dinner each night, and most importantly, no giant playroom to keep Amber occupied. Apparently, we wont know for sure until we actually reach NY, so we have to be flexible. Fortunately, weve gotten kind of good at that in the past 11 months. Amber visits her occularist Tuesday morning to have her prosthetic checked out. He mentioned last time that he would probably do a bit of adjusting this time, in particular, weve mentioned that her pupil tends to be a bit more dilated than the prosthetic. This will make that appointment a bit longer than usual, so we will probably be there until just after lunch time or so. Wednesday morning, Amber will have an MRI done very early. She hasnt had one since initial diagnosis and its part of the routine to get one yearly to ensure the cancer has not moved beyond the eye. As things have been going pretty well with most of our visits, we expect the MRI to be clear, but Id be lying if I said it didnt make me nervous. After that, shell be taken down for her usual eye exam in Dr. Abramsons office. We then leave that evening to fly home. Our flight is quite late and wont see us returning to Raleigh until 11:30pm. Heres hoping Amber decides to just sleep on the flights and not be grumpy because shes up way too late! Im sure, as always, that there will be a flurry of activity on this page over the next few days as we look to fill time between and during waits at airports, doctors, hospitals, etc. While I have your attention, please dont forget, those of you that are local to us, the Town of Holly Springs Police Department will be holding a benefit for Amber in conjuction with Crossfit Zeal and My Way Tavern on September 6th. Wed love to see you all there for lots of fun! Were thinking of it as a way to celebrate a year of Amber kicking butt since her diagnosis!
