The other day I was telling my Parents in Law how ready I am for - TopicsExpress

The other day I was telling my Parents in Law how ready I am for 2015, and how there is nothing that could happen next year, to make it worse than the one just been. It was then that my Father in Law chipped in reminding me that there were actually some very good things about 2014. He was of course 100% right. This year I married Angela in what can only be described as a magical day. In between stints in hospital, I dated my wife extensively and we had the most enjoyable days. The fundraising campaign, while exhausting was very uplifting, watching communities and strangers come together for a common cause. And then, in a strange kind of way, Angela’s funeral was a very special and beautiful day. See it’s easy for us to get bogged down in the negative, and lose sight of the positive. Granted, my main negative this year was a particularly significant one. But conversely, the positives were pretty big also. I am determined to be grateful for 2014. For everything it gave (and took away from) me. I learned more of life’s lessons this year, than perhaps for the sum total of the rest of my life thus far. I am a better person for having lived, survived and come out the other end of 2014. Don’t let yourself dwell for too long on the negatives that life throws at you. Ponder them only long enough to find a solution, then move on. All too often people can get caught in the trap of focusing solely on the negative things that get us down. If we dwell in these places for long enough, they give us the permission to develop something of a victim-like mentality. I know I’m tip-toeing along a very very fine line here so I won’t go much further (for now). But simply I am saying that life, no matter what it throws at us, is good. No, not all the time. In fact sometimes, life is downright mean and nasty. But, when the weighing up of life is complete, most of us will come out on the positive side of the ledger. So be positive. Be excited about 2015. Get involved in life. Living isnt a spectator sport. Life a life you are proud of. Be Better. Love Better And bring on 2015!
