This Bible belonged to my maternal grandmother Elzbieta Jonushaityte-Rotkiene. It was handed down to her by her mother. It is leather bound and, as you can see from the title page, was published in 1903. (The scribble is my “signature” when I was 4 years old. My grandmother sat and calmly watched me do it without saying a word.) “Mociute” was born in 1900 in the Taurage region of Lithuania, which is near what was then East Prussia, and her Bible is not written in standard Lithuanian, but rather Prussian-Lithuanian we called it Gothic. I am able to read it, but it is very slow going and quite difficult. It is Treasure of our family!
