This is sad. Domestic violence needs to be reported!! After a year of abuse I was told that I would be dead in the morning. That night I tried to escape at 3am with my 3 week old, out of my 3rd story apt., via my fire escape. I was caught downstairs in the act and screamed in enough terror to wake the whole neighborhood. 5 neighbors came out and it took 15 minutes to beg, plead and show proof of abuse to finally convince one person to call the cops. Had it not been for that one person, I dont know if Id be here today. Average people or at least men, I should say, are brought up on this whole mind their own business mentality especially involving someone elses relationship. That moment, almost 8 Years ago on November 17th, will forever be imprinted in my mind. Im not sharing this for pitty but most here on fb are not familiar with my story. Infact, my own immediate family were not aware of most of my story until last year. Its not something I can just bring up in conversation, unless I am specifically asked. I am sharing to inform. I am sharing to educate to look for signs. And above all, if someone seems to be in danger, even if you dont see it, report it. Be a hero, you could be saving a life!! 1 in 4 experience domestic violence in their lifetime. #breakthesilence on #domesticviolence
