Today is World Population Day and we talk Adolescent Pregnancy! Did you know that 9 out of 10 girls who give birth between the age of 15 and 19 are already married, many of them against their will? Child marriage puts girls at risk of early and unwanted pregnancies and poses life-threatening consequences. Preventing child marriage would help reduce the risks of HIV infection and maternal death and disabilities, including obstetric fistula. We work with governments and partners to deliver comprehensive programmes to prevent child marriage and address the needs of vulnerable and married girls.
