He is a true master. I remember one summer being at Bread and Puppet early enough to take several bit parts in the sideshows. A day or two before the B&P Circus, Peter came to see each sideshow performed. He made slight suggestions for most of them that really brought the show together. Just a tweak here and a tweak there and it all fell into place. He probably never thought of B&P this way, but it is a very good example of a coherent system that allows new ideas and striking metaphors to emerge and a harmonious balance to be achieved between autonomy and cohesion.
