OUR EHS Document? Youll have probably seen all the posts recently about the process in a European Committee to recognise, and start to address, the issue of EHS in the EU and in the member states. Although this was a European initiative, I think that the Opinion on Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity that the EESC TEN/559 committee has been working on would have been of immense benefit to EHS sufferers all around the world. A Final draft of this EHS Opinion was produced recently, and this was due to go before a meeting of the Comittee in the last few days, to be finalised. Unfortunately, this process was sabotaged by the last-minute tabling of a Counter Opinion by one of the UK members, Richard Adams, which was adopted by a majority vote. His document is obviously riddled with vested interests, as it refuses to accept that electromagnetic radiation is a factor in EHS, it states that EHS is a psychological problem - treatable with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and it kicks the whole issue into the long grass, by calling for more research. Essentially, his Counter Opinion could have been, and probably was, written by Big Wireless - and would regress the rights and treatment of EHS sufferers, rather than advance them. I wrote an Open Letter to Mr Adams, pointing all of this out, and told him that as far as I was concerned, his document was deeply offensive, and that I believed that EHS sufferers would refuse to recognise it. I think that we should recognise the Final Draft Opinion (link below), and use it in our dealings with the authorities, politicians, the media and so on to advance our cause. I think its a great document, and believe that all the hard work that was put into writing it shouldnt have been in vain. We should reclaim this document - whatever the Eurocrats may do.
