Part of the story thats true: I rode the shuttle back to the airport this morning with 2 couples. One has been married for 59 years. She was 17 & he was 18 when they tied the knot. The other couple has been married 53 years. She was 20 & he was 25 when they wed. Both couples flowed. When they walked, when they talked, & when they looked at each other. They were in perfect sync & both were flying somewhere to see their grandkids. Part of the story that I just assumed: Neither couple knew who they were when they got married. They didnt need to. Neither couple knew what life would bring. They didnt care. Neither couple let their stubbornness or selfishness get in the way of 50 years of commitment. And, they made that commitment at a much younger age & with much less knowledge than you & I have. But, commitment & family is all that mattered. Not their INDIVIDUAL needs. Not their INDIVIDUAL wants. Not their INDIVIDUAL discoveries. Because, if you are so concerned with bettering YOURSELF, loving YOURSELF, or making YOURSELF happy; youre obviously not going to make it to 50 years of marriage. Find someone you want to give a future to. Stop caring about yours. Yours is nothing without them. Live with someone. Laugh with someone. Love with someone.
