RT. Hon. Emmanuel Jimes New Year Message A new year is upon us. We are all privileged to be a part of it. Our gratitude is first to God whose wisdom and mercies have meant we are alive today. As Nigerians, the year 2015 is especially important. It is a year that delivers to us, the periodic routine of selecting our leaders. It is another year and another opportunity to strengthen our democratic tendencies. It is a time to assess how those we chose 4 years ago have fared or failed in delivering on the essence of the offices they occupy. It is a time to look at our challenges and to see which of many candidates best inspire the hope that the next 4 years would be better. These requires all of us to participate; all of us to ensure that the candidates that emerge do so through the right processes accepted by our true sense of justice and appreciation of the laid down rules meant to strengthen internal democracy and by extension, strengthen the overall practice of democracy especially when power concedes. Only by this dedication and by our collective insistence on doing the right thing, would we draw the full benefits that democracies have for her people. Above all, may this year be for us, one of many blessings, good health, peace and joy, growth and prosperity, IJN. Happy new year.
