Tax the poor has been the underlying creed of governments of both persuasions for too long, on the assumption that profitable companies and grotesquely rich will trickle down with jobs, demand for services, research and philanthropy to compensate - utter garbage - the money just disappears out of our economy and goes offshore. ...almost a third of companies listed on the ASX 200 pay 10 per cent or less in corporate tax. Some companies, such as James Hardie and Westfield Retail Trust, pay zero tax. Rupert Murdochs 21st Century Fox pays 1 per cent tax and casino group Echo Entertainment pays 5 per cent tax.
